fall decorating: fun with felt leaf placemats

by babhoyersh on September 24, 2010

I picked up this felt leaf placemat at Bed, Bath, and Beyond yesterday, along with two others in purple and dark brown. They were $1.99, but my 20% off coupon made them only $1.59.

I love the graphic nature of the leaf’s shape. I have one set up on the dining room table, as seen above, under a hurricane vase that I picked up at a thrift shop last year. The other one is on my kitchen table. Because we frequently have to flip our chairs over and put them on the kitchen table to prevent the two year old from cruising the counters, I love having some flat and decorative on the table.

Since the placemats are about a 1/4 inch thick, I thought I could hang the third one as a wreath. I think a hole punch could go through the felt.

Any other suggestions on how to use these graphic leaf placemats?

I just bought some of those from a store called Deals. They were a buck each. I just thought the cutout details were so pretty! I haven't done anything with them yet, but I just had to have them.

Thanks for the inspiration!

I bought some at Dollar Tree. I plan to place them end to end across the dining room table as a runner.
