This year’s 185th Philadelphia Flower Show pays tribute to centuries of British influence, joined by the Queen herself. I had planned on taking my youngest 2 children to the show again this year, however, my daughter got the flu just a few days before opening weekend.

Instead, I wandered the exhibits by myself and took copious amounts of pictures with my new Canon 50D, 28-75 mm lens, plus my old 50mm and macro lens. I was in heaven for 3 hours! I’ll go back next Sunday and bring the kids along to enjoy the show before it closes. My big goal for the show – get a picture of my daughter who is named Elizabeth with the queen. It will be one for our memory book.

Sometimes as moms, we need to be reminded to give to ourselves. Spending 3 hours immersed in flowers and photography turned out to be a great way to give to myself. I need to put monthly photography dates in my calendar to keep giving to myself.

Sorry your little one ended up with the flu, but so glad you still went and had some ‘me’ time for yourself! Awesome shots! :)

We went on Tuesday with my parents and the little one in tow. I think I will take some me time next year and go myself.

It’s worth going by yourself, Becky, especially if you can do that first before taking your little one. There is so much to look at. I missed a lot which I look at on Sunday when I bring the kids.
