So many things catch my eye each week which I want to share with you. I’m starting a weekend roundup to share a few of my favorite things. Enjoy!
Since I’m writing this round up right before lunch, I thought it was fitting to start with The Best Winter Salad from Boulder Locavore: Pomegranate and Pear Winter Salad with Apple Cider Vinaigrette. Being the best is a tall order, especially for a salad. I’m adding these ingredients to my shopping list for tomorrow morning; I’ll let you know how the salad turns out.
Homekeeping: Winter Storms – Do you know the difference?
Since this winter is promising to be colder than last year’s, not to mention the storms we’ve already had, I’m brushing up on my weather advisory lingo.
Winter Storm Outlook – Winter storm conditions are possible in the next 2 to 5 days.
Winter Weather Advisory – Winter weather conditions are expected to cause significant inconveniences and may be hazardous. When caution is used, these situations should not be life threatening.
Winter Storm Watch – Winter storm conditions are possible within the next 36 to 48 hours. People in a watch area should review their winter storm plans and stay informed about weather conditions.
Winter Storm Warning – Life-threatening, severe winter conditions have begun or will begin within 24 hours. People in a warning area should take precautions immediately.
10 Steps for a Thriftier New Year from Snail Pace Transformations – Shared at last week’s Fabulously Frugal Thursday linky party, Victoria’s post is the kind of post I find myself returning to again to come up with more ways to stretch our budget this year.
It’s the year of Radiant Orchid, according to Pantone. My friend Becky of Crafty Garden Mama shared 15 plants for the garden that have orchid-colored flowers or bear orchid-colored fruit. As a lover of all things purple, I cannot wait to get some purple pansies into my beds for the first burst of purple in the garden.
