I customized my TV package thanks to Verizon FiOS®, as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #CustomTV.
As the only girl in a family of boys (4 boys!), my 8 year old daughter has expressed frustration at being the only girl. (Note the size of the word Sister in the note she wrote me last week.)
Yet, I know my on-the-go daughter loves being around her equally busy brothers. She’s always looking for a new challenge. She’s persistent, determined, and athletic. This spring, when she tried out for our pool’s swim team, she tried twice to pass the swim test, and hounded the coach in between her attempts to give her another chance.
When I asked my daughter what her favorite show is on Nickelodeon, I was not surprised to hear that she loves Bell and the Bulldogs. The main character, Bella, a middle school student dreams of playing football, not being on the sidelines as a cheerleader. Bella tries out for the team, and succeeds in becoming the quarterback. Despite her teammates’ attempts to prevent her from succeeding, Bella perseveres. While Bella and the Bulldogs is clearly a sitcom aimed at kids, I know my daughter loves seeing another girl being true to herself while learning about true friendship, self-confidence, and respecting others.
How to Plan a Bella and the Bulldogs Party for Girls
Since my daughter loves girl time with her friends, I’m putting together a fun Bella and the Bulldogs Party for them. My goal is to encourage them to go after their goals while remaining true to who they are.
I always start with food. Kids love to eat, and they love fun to eat food. I love food that’s easy to prepare. These 4 recipes are sure to do both.
Pepperoni Cheese Stick Roll ups | The Girl Who Ate Everything – These come together in 5 minutes!
Football Pepperoni Pizza | Babble – While I’m putting together the roll ups before the party, my daughter can set up this fun cheese plate. This is a great idea for a fruit platter, too.
Football Pepperoni Pizza | Babble – This football-shaped pizza is a great food activity for the girls to do together at the party. I would make this shortly after all the girls arrive, pop it in the oven for 20 minutes, and then let it cool for about 5 minutes before serving to the girls.
Ice Cream Football Sandwiches | The Celebration Shoppe – Dessert doesn’t get easier than these easy ice cream football sandwiches! I can make these the night before and put them in the freezer to make sure the wooden spoons harden in place.
Crafts and Games
I like to keep our kid parties loosely structured with a few activities. Since some of my daughter’s friends like to move, and others prefer quieter activities, I’ve rounded up a few ideas to keep both groups happy.
Football Games: Charades | The Joys of Boys
Football Earrings | Sowdering About
Paint favorite football team colors on fingernails – Originally, I thought of painting footballs on the girls’ nails, and reconsidered. While I’m crafty, simple things are often the best, especially if I have a group of 7 or 8 girls in my home.
Paint footballs and team mascots on the girls’ faces – Since I’m much better at face painting than nail painting, I can go crazy with the face painting!
Pom Pom Hair Clips Tutorial | Raegaun Ramblings
First of all, I stage the rooms where we’ll have guests. I do the obvious stuff like putting everything away. Then, I move the furniture around to accommodate the party plan. For a group of girls doing crafts, I will set up tables with chairs to give them a place for crafting. Games will be done in the basement or outside.
I always decorate the room where we serve the food with streamers and balloons. It keeps my creativity contained and focused. It’s also easier to clean up one room after the party when I’m ready to put up my feet and relax.
Philadelphia Eagles Colors: Balloons, streamers, bowls of candy – Since most of the girls are Eagles fans, we’ll stick to those colors, though I know my husband would prefer the Giants’ colors. Not need to start a riot at a girl’s party!
Paper Pennants out of team colors – Cardstock is the perfect weight for pennants. My daughter can help with stringing up the pennants. If I’m short on time, Party City has packages of solid-colored pennants.
Football Drink Tub | Mom Endeavors – This football drink tub is easy to make. If I can’t find cheap brown suede, I’m sure I can find brown contact paper.
