One Minute Decorating Tip for Valentine’s Day Decor: Use trim for sparkle. That’s it. You don’t even need to get out the scissors.
Before Christmas, Michael’s Craft Store had packages of trim, 5 one-yard pieces to a package for $1 in their dollar section. I scooped up the sparkly trim in silver, gold, purple, pink, and green without any plan in mind.
As I created a new Valentine’s Day tablescape for our dining room table, I realized the glass needed something sparkly. I had set a large glass vase (under $8 on clearance at Target before Christmas) on top of a glass cake stand (had forever!). I would love a colored cake stand, however, I used what I had.
I filled the glass vase from Target with Christmas ornaments, big and small silver, pink, red, and purplish balls. But, I still needed something. The sparkly trim from Michael’s added just enough color and sparkle to finish the tablescape. Though I’m debating whether I could hide a small strand of lights in the vase; I’m just not sure where to put the battery pack for easy access.
To continue the Valentine’s Day theme in the adjacent living room, I filled my collection of apothecary jars with the remaining trim, mixing silver and pink together.
