In ensure that I do certain things during the day with my toddler and preschooler, I came up with a one page weekly planner based on the Montessori areas that I wanted to cover. If you’re not familiar with Montessori, these areas are Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Language and Science. I also included Christian Training and Music/Art.
My goal was to create a checklist of things that I absolutely wanted to cover along with those I can cover on a good week, all fitting on a single page. Even if I only spent 5 to 10 minutes on something, like reading about the Saints, that 5 to 10 minutes can build over the course of a week and a month.
I am going to make sure that I write an activity in each area that I specified one. This gives me a back plan just in case I need to have my toddler and preschooler occupied while I make a phone call or work with my 6th grader on something. I have several lists of activity ideas for toddlers and preschoolers, but I think these can be overwhelming when I need to come up with something quickly.
I’ll be test driving this planner next week!
