As I mentioned in my Fashion Friday post about my lunch date outfit, I’m getting myself out the habit of wearing t-shirts and shorts for the summer by dressing up a bit, especially when I go on dates with my husband. However, with a limited budget for a family of 7, I need to find name brand clothes with a budget price.
In August, I had a chance to visit a new Ross Dress for Less store opening near me while my daughter was at a birthday party. I decided to use the gift card given to me by Ross Dress for Less for a review of the store to buy a dress for a lunch date with my husband. Oh, boy did I have fun finding an dress for the date, plus a few more.
I’m always a bit nervous about walking into a store and trying on clothes, especially clothes I don’t normally wear as a mom. Walking into Ross was much more relaxing than I expected! The security guard said hello immediately, and the store employees I met were friendly and helpful. After trying on a lot of dresses and leaving the ones I didn’t want with the dressing room employee, I went back to buy a black dress I tried on. She found it for me immediately. I didn’t feel silly for changing my mind!
When I looked in the dress racks for potential outfits, I found tons of fabulous dresses by designers I recognized plus ones I didn’t. Most of the dresses were $40 and under which is my price point for buying a dress for me. I had a hard time narrowing down my choices. I picked out 6 dresses for the first round of trying on clothes. I tried on a few more for the second round, and decided my first choices were the best. I bought the 3 dresses shown above.
I picked out this striped jersey knit dress for our lunch date along with a pair of silver earrings. The earring brand is one of my favorites because of its strong yet simple visual design. I can wear this dress into the fall paired with black cardigan or casual black jacket.
I will definitely go back to Ross Dress for Less for clothes for me. I know I can find cute dresses in my price range to wear for upcoming events like my daughter’s First Communion next May. The employees were friendly and helpful. For this introverted mom, I had an easy time finding clothes and trying them on. Definitely a frugal win for this mom!
