The crockpot is an under-used tool in my kitchen, though I’ve been pushing myself to use it more this fall. I’ve always used a crockpot to make yogurt, a fail-proof method. I also like to use slowcooker for my acorn squash. Susan of Designs of Home, an ardent crockpot user, has 12 crockpot recipes to help those of us who are crockpot-challenged.

I use the crockpot, quite often. Some people refer to it as a Slow Cooker and it is a real time saving device. A crock pot allows busy cooks the ability to prepare simple dinner recipes for their family. No more slaving over a hot stove on hectic days. Besides simple dinners, you can cook up some really tasty crockpot recipes, of all types, including main entrees such as Crockpot Grass Fed Beef Roast, as well as appetizers, side dishes, desserts, soups and even oatmeal for breakfast!

I actually own three or four in different sizes, but a friend of mine owns eight. She will often drive to work with a smile on her face, knowing that she will come home to a full and balanced meal, cooked and ready to serve to her busy family. She prepares a main entree in one, she usually has 2 or more for side dishes and even one for dessert!
If you entertain, crockpots are a wonderful and helpful tool in the kitchen. Besides cooking a recipe, you can also keep things warm in some of them. Many brands, these days have a ‘keep warm’ setting, that comes in handy for parties and gatherings at your home. I have even seen some, that come with special lids and carrying pouches, so you can prepare a dish and take it to a pot luck dinner, or maybe a tailgaiting party.
I hope you enjoy these recipes and use your crockpot or slow cooker, soon!
