I’ve always loved the simplicity of the painted wooden nativity set I made about 5 years ago. I kept the details simple and focused on the main characters in the nativity story. Honestly, I haven’t found a store-bought nativity set that makes me smile as much as this one does.
Every year, I set up our wooden nativity set in the kitchen where the kids can see it every day, especially at Christmas time. All the pieces come from Casey’s Wood Products. I made the wooden Christmas trees before making the nativity set. I used craft paint from Michael’s Craft store to paint the pieces and followed by shellac to protect the paint for long-term use. The angel wings came from the pom pom and pipecleaner aisle at Michael’s Craft Store.
