After my marathon printing session last week, I’ve been covering my cards with contact paper and then cutting them out and organizing them in my boxes. My boxes are my current solution to a lack of shelves and trays. With a 21 month old ready to get into everything, I figured the less access he had to materials the better. I found the boxes at Joann Fabrics about a month ago. They were on sale for half price. They’re not perfect, but they’re fine for now.
So far I have a set of cards for the months of the year and three double sets of the seasons. I’m working on Spring.
I also started a botany box since gardening is so much a part of our family’s life. I put in a set of cards about how plants grow. Today, I walked around our yard taking pictures of the flowers and the vegetable plants. I’ll make up sets of matching cards with them. I decided to make my own cards using the flowers and plants my children saw in their own yard.
Another of my science boxes is about habitats. I may put some landform cards in this one. I haven’t decided yet. I would like to do a set of cards about Pennsylvania animal life.
