My kids have always been under foot in the kitchen wanting to help with whatever I was making for dinner, dessert, whatever. For the longest time, we kept a wooden stool from Ikea in the kitchen just for the kids to stand on and watch my husband and I work at the counter. We’ve gone from little ones tossing discarded bits of fruits and veggies into the compost bin to “help” to my now 9 year old making and baking cookies. While some of our kids love cooking more than others, ultimately my goal is for all of them to be comfortable in the kitchen.
Today, I’m sharing a round up of our cooking adventures over the past year. I hope our videos inspire you and your kids to get cooking in the kitchen. Molly Katzen’s series of cookbooks for kids, Pretend Soup, Salad People, and Honest Pretzels, are a great resource for recipes to try together.
