As we wound down the school year, my kids happened to be home from school on Tuesday of this week. Of course, my 7 year old son clamored to make his recipe he found in Pretend Soup, one of our favorite cookbooks for kids. I wish I had read through the recipe sooner; it was such a simple recipe for him to make.
Since lemons, limes, and apple juice concentrate are all fairly cheap to buy, even the organic versions, this can be a frugal drink to make. Watch for sales for the seltzer water; you can often pick it up for $.99/bottle.
Check out our video to see how making lemon lime soda pop became a family affair.
Did you notice the little surprise at the end of the video?
- 2 T lemon juice (jarred or fresh squeezed)
- 1 T lime juice (jarred or fresh squeezed)
- 2 T apple juice concentrate defrosted
- 3 ice cubes
- 1 cup seltzer water
- If you're using fresh fruit, squeeze your fresh fruit into a glass and pour through a strainer into your drinking glass. Otherwise, measure out the different amounts of juice and mix together in your drinking glass.
- Add in the ice cubes.
- Add in the seltzer water, and drink!
