Two weeks until school starts and yet, I still have a few items to wrap up for my oldest son. Apparently his feet decided to grow since I checked them in July so we have to add sneakers and shoes to our shopping list. I still need to get his new eyeglass prescription filled. I need to find these “theme tablets” on the school supply list.
But, I don’t mind. I’m ready for the change of the season. I’m ready for a new and very busy routine. I’m ready to meet some new moms and for my children to make new friends. I am very ready to stop gardening, even though the Type A side of my personality is having a hard time shutting our vegetable garden down.
When I was talking to a friend at my baby’s baptism party yesterday, she asked how I managed to do it. I told her the truth. I can only do one big thing at a time right now, and this summer it was getting as much food out of the vegetable garden as possible. My freezer and my pantry are full of food with a little more coming in these next two weeks as we harvest our grapes and apples.
But now I’m ready to plunge into school schedules and crafting and decorating and enjoying the fall season. I’ll be pulling out my Martha Stewart magazines, looking for ideas on fall and Halloween decorations. I’ll be reviewing Dawn of By Sun and Candlelight’s monthly themes looking for simple ideas like apple picking. Oh, and I’ll be planning several birthday parties since three of our children have birthdays in the next four months.
