You will not believe how easy it is to make tartar sauce. Just mix mayo and relish together. That’s it. Finito! Of course, if you want to keep everything in the recipe homemade, make your own mayonnaise and relish ahead of time, and then scoop some of each into a bowl and mix.
I originally made the tartar sauce for fishsticks one Friday night, and like many condiments in our home, I was the only to use it. There was quite a bit leftover. I added some to a tomato and bacon salad and came up with a new yummy dish. If you have cold chicken, the tartar sauce would make a tasty dressing along with some arugula for the base and maybe a few bits of cooked bacon and a few sprinkles of shredded pecorino romano.
