In an effort to keep ice cream out of the house, at least until I can find a used ice cream maker, I’ve been working on some homemade frozen treats. Last week I made a raspberry version of the purple cow. I made mine with milk, raspberry juice from our own raspberries, sugar and lemon juice. After mixing, I put them in half cup containers (with lids) and put them in the freezer to harden. Good reviews from all the kids!
This week I needed to use up the half eaten apples, courtesy of my two year old, that I had collected in a container in the frig. When I realized that I also had two partially-eaten bananas, I decided to turn both fruits into a smoothie, with the addition of homemade grape jelly for sweetening and about a cup of milk. I put this recipe into some more half cup containers and put them in the freezer. We might try these tonight for dessert.
