I was supposed to write up a simple plan this week for Holy Week. Even today, I promised myself that I would write one. It hasn’t happened and I don’t think it will. The good news is that I’m keeping Holy Week simple.
I decided that we would mark the week with the Liturgy of the Hours. Just a simple prayer with a lit candle at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On Holy Thursday, we’ll set up a Seder plate and talk about what the symbols mean. We’re also going to try washing feet, maybe starting with the baby and going from there. On Good Friday, we’ll turn off all the worldly distractions (even the computer!), and experience the silence.
I have some wooden figures from Worship Woodworks that I’m going to set up. We’ll use them to talk about Palm Sunday and the other events during Holy Week, ending with the empty tomb.
We’ll also do some crafts and baking during the week which brings me to some wonderful ideas that I found today, thanks to The Crafty Crow. I’m always amazed and inspired by the wonderful talent out there! If you click on The Crafty Crow link, you’ll see all the ideas, but I’m going to link directly to my favorite ones. I did not find any ideas using the lamb symbol so I’ll have to think of something myself.
I have one more link to share – felt eggs – but the site isn’t working right now. As soon as it does, I’ll add it to the list.
