On the left are the 1/4 inch thick felt leaves that I found at Joann Fabrics. A lot of the holiday dollar items were a bit junky, but I always find some simple felt decorations that can be used in different ways.
For instance, I’m planning on cutting two slits in the leaves just below the stems and thread a ribbon through the slits to create a garland for my mantel. I’m also going to try to do a little embroidery, but only if I have time. I’ll be happy getting the slits done and the ribbon threaded.
My other finds come from Michael’s which has a fabulous dollar section. This time I found lots of Christmas items – sticky pads, notecards 8 for $1 (see on the right), journals, address labels, package decorations, and more. There were several different themes – country angels, Mary Engelbreit, French Country, black and white.
I picked up the cards on the left for teacher gifts, neighbors, and anyone else I need a card for. The cards at the top right have hearts on them so I thought I might save them for Valentine’s Day.
The penguin cards will serve as invitations for my daughter’s birthday in December. She loves penguins and has two as stuffed animals – Penguin and Penguin Pete. I even made felt fish for them…
Anyway, I also picked up two packages of address labels with Christmas trees on them. Each package has 30 labels for $1. I’ll use the leftover labels on my gifts in addition to my leftover gift labels from last year.
Another item that might be of interest are the Christmas photo cards. These are 8 for $1 and you can use a 3×5 photo or 4×6. I haven’t tried the 3×5 size yet, but I found the 4×6 size to work well.
