I hardly ever share the daily moments of our life as a family of 7 on A Life in Balance. I feel like I’m focused on the bigger picture instead of the small details here on the blog. If you’re a fan on Facebook or follow me on Instagram, you get glimpses of our family life.
Every Saturday, I’m going to share 5 glimpses of daily life to share with you the family behind A Life in Balance. Don’t forget to join me on Instagram for more daily life.
After a very busy spring, we finally made it back to Longwood Gardens to see their newly-opened Meadow Garden. While I did hear some complaints about the walking (I think the kids will like the meadow better in the cooler fall), they loved revisiting their favorite tree houses and finding one of the 14 cats at Longwood Gardens.
We made 4th of July Slime, a recipe from The Pleasantest Thing. The kids loved it!
My new favorite lunch! Last week, I grilled eggplant wiped with olive oil and truffle salt. I topped it with homemade roasted red peppers and feta cheese. Yum!
Those who know me well know that I have no fondness for air conditioning. Nope, none at all. I tolerate for my husband’s sake because the heat bothers him. It’s easier for me to add layers while sleeping in air conditioning.
After discussing for several years how to air condition our first floor without installing duct work, my husband, a building engineer, decided to install 2 large window units on our first floor. These are the largest size we could purchase without switching to a different type of plug. I think both do 12,000 BTUs.
Upon a tip from a friend, my daughter and I headed to Aldi’s and picked up 12 containers of strawberries and blueberries for $.99 each. We froze all the blueberries and 4 of the strawberry packages.
