When I heard on the radio this morning that we would have two extremely hot days, including a possible 100 degree day tomorrow, I decided that we needed to go to the library a day early.
Our favorite library has two train tables, couches, and computers set up in the children’s library which keep my kids occupied while I’m looking for books for myself and them. I keep the two year old in his stroller until I’m finished looking for books in the adult section. Then, he can join his siblings at the train tables.
It’s not unusual for us to come home with two bags of books, sometimes three. Sometimes, I feel bad for the person waiting in line behind me while I check out books, but I am taking out books for five kids, and myself. It’s usually best just to get it done all at once.
I keep the library books for the little ones in a large crate in my office under my craft table. In the picture, the library bags are leaning against the crate. My teenage keeps his books in his room and so far, he hasn’t lost any with his system.
Our library system recently instituted e-mail reminders which are a great way for me to keep an eye on due dates. Generally, we go the same day almost every week, but a day like today throws a wrench into my routine.
If you stopped by tomorrow, not only would you find the kids hanging out in the living room and office reading their library books, but I would probably be in my bedroom reading my books. After all, I still have a lot to learn and a few mysteries by Rhys Bowen to read.
