Target has become my go-to store for fitness clothes for running. I love being able to walk in and find something that isn’t too wild yet colorful enough and still snazzy enough for a mom of 5 to wear. The clothes fit well which helps me feel more comfortable running. Who wants to feel like their pants are gapping in the back or the clothes are too loose and flopping?
For sizing, I find Target’s clothes to be pretty much spot on. I’m a 5’2″ mom in a decent shape weighing about 130 lbs. right now. The small size fits me fine and covers what needs to be covered.
I bought this lightweight top last week and wore it for a 63 degree run. It was just enough coverage without being too hot. I went back today and picked up another one in bright pink. I’d much rather wear these bright colors for my morning run which show in the dark than my reflective nylon vest. Yes, I’m a bit vain. The only downside to this top is the lack of pockets. When I go for a trail run, I need a place to stash my car keys. This top is made by Champion and costs $24.99.
This skirt/capri combo is a new look for me. It’s also made by Champion and costs $27.99. I originally picked up a medium to try on and found that I needed to go down to a small size, and yet no gapping in the back of the skirt. Again, the only drawback is a lack of a pocket. I have a pair of Target brand running pants with a small zippered pocket in the back of the waistband. That is a fantastic feature to have.
Another Champion top, this one runs about $9.99 to $12.99. I found mine in the clearance rack and paid under $5 for it. These tops aren’t form fitting nor are they too big. They’re just right. If you prefer a tank, Target offers several styles of tanks all around $12.99.
Ways to Save
- Put your purchases on Target’s Red Card to save 5% each time. Mine is linked to my checking account to prevent accruing finance fees.
- Get the Target Pharmacy Rewards card and get a 5% off shopping pass good for one day each time you fill 5 prescriptions. This one day pass can be combined with the Target Red Card.
- Shop clearance. Every time I’m in Target, I check the clearance rack in the active wear section. Because I don’t need clothes, I wait until the price is only a few dollars before buying.
- Have 2 outfits for each season. If you run 4 days a week like me, you can rotate between 2 outfits. The fabric dries very quickly and can be hung up and air dried.
