A few weeks ago, my friend Rachee posted on Facebook asking for a killer weight routine that would tame her flabby arms (her words, not mine). I jumped in immediately and recommended a routine I learned about 20 years ago (Wow, that long!) from a Cindy Crawford video. Of course, I could find the video bits on YouTube with Russian comments on it, though no arm routine. So, I made my own video.
Doing this routine makes such a difference for me. When I was, ahem, younger, I used to fill up a pick up truck with an 8 foot bed full of free leaf mulch and drive home to unload the leaf mulch and put it on the beds in our yard. Many, many loads which I couldn’t have done so easily if it weren’t for this routine.
As a runner, I continue to do the routine. I think it’s important to strengthen the upper body as much as the lower body. I feel like I breathe better and have better form when I do this arm routine on a regular basis. I include it in my evening routine every other day though you could do it twice a week and still see results.
One last thing – I always feel like Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2 – Judgement Day when I do this routine. She had the most amazing arms!
- You can use 5, 8, or 10 lb. weights. I would recommend starting out with a slightly lighter weight because you’ll find yourself working harder when you do the routine a second time.
- Take the time to go through the moves slowly.
- I’m not a fitness expert; check with your doctor and a trainer to make sure you’re okay to do the routine and you do the moves properly.
- Now get some killer arms!
