I love decorating for First Communion Parties. Since they happen in the spring, I can take advantage the flowers in our yard to add a personal touch to the dollar store decorations I buy. I’ve been collecting ideas for inspiration on my First Communion Pinterest Board.
Since we had such a busy spring, I kept the First Communion party decorations very simple this year. I also bought decorations with an eye to reusing them for next year’s First Communion party for my daughter and maybe even our last First Communion party 3 years from now.
This year, I stuck to light blue, white, and yellow balloons along with blue, white, and yellow streamers from Party City, plus plastic blue and white streamers from the Dollar Tree. I have several 3M Command hooks on the walls in my dining room to make party decorating easy. I framed the doorway, large mirror, and double set of windows with the party decorations.
The paper plates, cups, and napkins came from the Dollar Tree. I used small square yellow plates and white napkins for appetizers and desserts and the large square white plates and blue napkins for dinner. In the kitchen we set up a drink station with blue paper cups.
The tablecloth is a blue one I picked up at Home Goods. I put a smaller sized table cloth in the kitchen to coordinate the 2 rooms. I scattered battery-operated tea lights in tea light holders I found on clearance at Kohl’s around the kitchen, dining room, and living room to add a little sparkle when the sun went down. The 2 glass bowls holding Jordan Almonds (after Easter buy at Target) came from a thrift store.
I festooned the dining room with streamers since that’s where the food is set up. I put the streamers up on Tuesday and they stayed up through today with just Scotch tape.
