I participated in this sponsored campaign on behalf of Firefly® and One2One Network. All opinions stated are my own.
With 5 kids in our family, teeth brushing time has the potential to be crazy time in the bathroom. Kids are notorious for brushing as quickly as they can, or at least mine are. No matter how many times I remind them to brush as long as they can sing Happy Birthday in their mind, they conveniently forget. Charts, ultimatums, bribes, loss of fun stuff like tv time and screen time? Honestly, not as successful as I would like.
In our home, teeth brushing happens before school and right after dinner. With kids getting up at different times in the morning, they eat breakfast at different times, and brush their teeth at different times. Add in a teenager needing to use the bathroom, too, before heading off to high school, and it’s no wonder, I go a bit crazy making sure everyone brushes their teeth properly.
After dinner, it’s slightly less stressful. We’re not headed out anywhere most evenings. However, the 4 younger kids are in high spirits, often getting each other wet and dropping tooth paste all over the counter.
It’s enough to make a mom throw her hands up in despair. I simply can’t supervise every child all the time.
Make Oral Care Fun
Through the One2One Network, I was offered the opportunity to try out the Firefly Toothbrushes with their interactive flashing lights. Inventor of the Ready Go Brush, Firefly is a leader in Children’s Oral Care solutions. Flashing lights and sounds? Sounds like the perfect plan for my kids who love their video games.
Make Oral Care a Healthy Habit
The problem with a kid singing Happy Birthday in their mind is that they might rush through the song. They may get distracted by a sibling, or 2. They may decide to stop early because Mom can’t hear whether or not they sang the whole song.
With the Firefly toothbrush, my kids were able to brush their teeth for the recommended 60 seconds. 60 seconds of flashing lights for the top row, and 60 seconds of flashing lights for the bottom row. Since the timing wasn’t kid-dependent, my kids did a much better job of cleaning their teeth.
Keep Oral Care Sanitary
5 kids = lots of germs in my bathroom. This past winter, we went through rounds of strep throat, the flu, ear infections, and anything else floating around. I’m not exaggerating when I say we spent well over $1,000 on sick visits, prescriptions, and even, an x-ray for 3 of my kids.
As you can see from the photo, the kids toothbrushes end up on top of each other. All the time. No wonder the germs keep getting passed around! Yet, the Firefly toothbrushes can stand on the counter with their nifty suction cup bottoms and never touch each other. No more sharing germs!
Keep Oral Care Frugal
At $3.49 to $4.99 per toothbrush, Firefly toothbrushes are easy on the budget for this frugal mom. Each one comes with batteries making them ready to go out of the box. No excuses not to use these fun brushes! In fact, I already know I’ll be tucking a few into my children’s stockings this Christmas.
