This past August, I decided to take a chance on buying a sweater dress. In fact, I bought 2 sweater dresses, a black and white striped one and a beautiful simple purple one. I’ve been waiting for the weather to be cool enough to wear them.
Being short, I’m always careful about the types of fabric I wear, and how things fit. I find wearing a dress to work better for me than a shirt and skirt which break up my silhouette. I also stick to softer fabrics which drape well instead of stiff ones which can bunch up on me.
When choosing a sweater dress, I made sure to choose a thinner one more likely to drape well on my figure. I also looked for details like a more defined waist which also makes me look a little taller and the square pattern in the skirt part of this purple sweater dress.
To make this sweater dress a little more casual, I chose a pink scarf I had bought at Target. After playing with the scarf for a few minutes I ended up wrapping it in reverse around my neck to have the ends fall underneath the neck piece.
For the earrings, I chose a pair of small silver ones with a purple stone my sister gave me a few years ago.
For the boots, I went with my Hannah Andersson boots. They’re super comfy and good for walking around in for several hours.
The piece de resistance! My new Sondra Roberts hobo bag! About a year ago, I bought an orange Sondra Roberts bag, and fell in love with it. It’s the perfect size for carrying everything I need to carry without being too big. My new pewter hobo bag is the same, though it has fewer pockets. I love that I can wear it for dress up or with jeans.
