I was surprised by how much interest my not yet 5 year old son showed in planning his party. At Target, he went for lots of candles. He kept telling me where to put tables and set up the drinks. He had it all organized in his mind.
Since I ran out of time for being extra creative, I decided to go with a rainbow theme for the party since Legos come in many colors. Lots of colors. (We sorted our Lego collection in January. We’re still sorting.) Target had rainbow streamers and a bag of balloons. I spent $8.62 on the decorations. I tied the balloons together with silver ribbon I found at Target on clearance after Christmas.
For inspiration, I turned to Pinterest and searched for streamers. The streamers on the mirror and the streamers crisscrossing the wall were both inspired by Pinterest. My 7 year old son came up with the idea of hanging short pieces of streamer over the drink area.
I also purchase rainbow dot napkins at Target and used leftover rainbow dot plastic cups from my oldest son’s 8th grade graduation party. I went with Chinet Recyclable/Compostable Dinner Plates and Dessert Plates to see how they held up; I was pretty happy with them.
