Start your school morning off right with any of these easy healthy breakfast smoothies. Packed with nutrition and flavor, they’re sure to please moms and kids alike. I also rounded up 5 coffee recipes to help Mom start her day off with a tasty boost of caffeine.
Easy to make, smoothies are perfect for a last minute or make ahead breakfast option. I like to put the frozen fruit in my Blendtec Wildside container the night before and add the fresh ingredients in the morning. Put the smoothie in a Ball canning jar, add a fun colored top and straw, and your kids can eat their breakfast on the go when everyone is running late.
Ball Brand Sip and Straw Lids
Since my kids and I love to have a smoothie every morning, I was excited to try out the Ball Sip & Straw Lids which are usable with canning jars. You can buy ones for regular or wide mouth canning jars.
We tested out the lid and straw with my 11 year old son’s smoothie recipe, Tri-Berrie Bash.
- 3 cups mixed frozen berries, slightly defrosted
- 1 banana
- 1 cup whole milk plain yogurt
- Put all the ingredients into a blender. Use the smoothie setting to puree the ingredients until completely blended.
We found the straws are perfect for smoothies because they are wider than regular straws. Being wider, they are also much easier to clean, a pet peeve of mine. The straws and lids are dish washer safe and BPA-free. The kids loved picking out their favorite color to use.
Tip for an easy school morning breakfast: Make your smoothie the night before, put it into the canning jars with the straws and lids and refrigerate. When the kids come down for breakfast, hand them a smoothie to drink while you make breakfast.
