I’m back with the second of my easy Halloween decorations this week – a BOO Garland. Like yesterday’s Halloween decoration, the Halloween Chalkboard Table Runner, this BOO Garland takes only about 10 minutes to make.
How to Make the BOO Garland
Paint one side of the chipboard triangles with several coats of chalkboard paint. I found I needed 3 coats for good coverage.
Pencil on the BOO letters, one per triangle. My Chalkboard Pinterest board has examples of fonts and Bergamont characters to use. I kept my fonts simple.
To put the garland together, first run the twine through the chipboard triangles and center them in the middle of the length of twine. Then, add the Halloween straws on either end. Since I had 2 different types of Halloween straws, I alternated them with the lighter colored straw in the middle.
Hang your garland.
I pulled the twine through the holes coming from behind on one side and going out the other side.
Making the edges of the letters thicker helped them to show up better across the room. Give the chalk marker time to dry on the letters before adding more. If you don’t wait, some of the marker paint comes off.
To tie the BOO Garland to my mantel, I have 2 upholestry tacks permanently installed at the corners of my mantel. When not in use, the white upholestry tacks blend in a bit.
