I love to use hanging baskets to brighten up my drab back porch. Since the porch is small, I can get away with doing 2 to 3 baskets for under $15 each.
I buy my empty hanging baskets and coco liners at Home Depot. The baskets easily last 5 years, especially if you store them out of the weather during the winter. The coco liners usually last about 2 to 3 years. I use container soil mix to fill the hanging baskets.
I use a mix of colors, heights, and types of plants when planting my baskets. In this hanging basket, I have 2 basil plants and 3 petunia plants. The petunias will hang over the side while the basil plants provide height for the basket.
This basket is all about petunias, trailing and more upright plants. I kept the color combination more simple by using purple and light yellow. I could have also gone with purple and bright pink for more snazz.
