Outside my window…
Darkness, cold, and wind.

I am thinking…
about my long run this morning after mass. I woke up thinking about it.

I’m also thinking about my visit to a local nursing home yesterday morning with my oldest son’s Venturing Crew. I met some incredible older people. One man, Dan, reeled off joke after joke. I wish I had brought my younger kids to meet these older folks.

I am thankful for…
my health. I’m still figuring out what works and what doesn’t work for me when it comes to eating, supplements, and other habits, and I am feeling so much better than I did a year ago.

I am pondering…

Living a green/frugal lifestyle…
I’ve been struggling a bit with staying on top of our finances. Nothing bad; it’s just not a priority for me to check on things once a week. I’m not comfortable with that. Once the kids are back in school, I am going to look at my weekly schedule and make time on a regular basis.

From the kitchen…
Kitchen? What’s that? Just kidding – mostly. With everyone home, my attention has been on preparing for Christmas, celebrating, and cleaning up. No menu plan. Time to get back in the kitchen!

to mass and then for a long run.

I am reading…
Runner’s World Guide to Cross-Training

Living A Healthy Lifestyle…
As part of my goal to run 13 races in 2013, I’ve started researching training plans and reading about strength and crosstraining. My goal during the winter is to focus on strength training whether it’s using my weights at home or doing Level 2 and 3 of the 30 Day Shred, both of which offer the types of workouts suggested in the book I’m reading. I’m also working on increasing my overall mileage, slowly. Once March hits, then I’ll add in other workouts like tempo runs.

All I need is a half marathon for the spring. I have 3 4-ish trail runs scheduled, and I’m looking at a 5 miler for May.

I am hoping…
for an awesome 2013!

I am hearing…
my husband watching “Suits.” We’ve been watching Seasons 1 and 2 in preparation for the new season this January.

Around the house…
Chaos and fun! A little organization, too.

One of my favorite things…
Our new coffee maker, a Bonavita Coffee Maker.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Court of Honor for the Venturing Crew, lunch duty, and getting back into the school routine.
