Outside my window…
Darkness, and of course, cold.

I am thinking…
about spending the day planning and working on various projects.

I am thankful for…
my parish’s CYO programs where my kids get to play and learn from great coaches.

I am pondering…
balance and saying no.

Living a green/frugal lifestyle…
I decided to cut back in one area at Christmas this year. I may end up cutting back in another, too. At my children’s school, almost all of the parents will send in little treats for every single kid in the class. I could do this when it was one or two kids. This year, I would be preparing for 3 classes, and, as I keep thinking, next year, it’s 4 classes when my youngest is in preschool. Depending on how frugal I am, I could spend anywhere from $80 to $160.

Instead, I’ll make up little gift bags for the kids my kids are close to. We’ll include their neighborhood friends, too. The project is smaller and not as expensive, and my children have the opportunity to hand the gift to the recipient rather than the teacher passing it out and making it impersonal.

From the kitchen…
We made our first batch of Christmas cookies yesterday. Actually, my 9 year old did the making. We realized that we didn’t put enough vanilla in, and he may have put too much flour in. I had to add some water to make the dough more pliable for the cookie press.

I am creating…
plans for Advent and Christmas. I’m almost done my Advent activity list; I also need to finish my list for the Elf on the Shelf. We’ll be starting ours next Sunday.

I am going…
to mass and then home to get things done.

I am reading…
The The Art of Fermentation: An In-Depth Exploration of Essential Concepts and Processes from Around the World by Sandor Katz which I found at my library. He also wrote Wild Fermentation: The Flavor, Nutrition, and Craft of Live-Culture Foods.

Living A Healthy Lifestyle…
It’s time for me to order more vitamins for my children from Puritan’s Pride. I had them start taking Cod Liver Oil in August; so far, they’ve only been really sick once. I still need to deal with my daughter’s cradle cap. She’s the only one of the 4 young ones that has had issues with multivitamins.

After struggling a bit with my running during the end of October, I’ve been working my way back up to my weekly mileage of 20 miles. Last week, I did just over 19. This week, I’ll do 20, and decide what my plans are for winter running. With a bad winter predicted for the mid-Atlantic, I don’t want to lose my current conditioning, and I don’t want to hurt myself on icy roads.

I am hoping…
for a good week. My schedule is a bit crazy.

I am hearing…
the washing machine as I get caught up on laundry.

Around the house…
The fall decorations are down and waiting to be put away. I’m taking a breather until next weekend when I’ll start decorating for Christmas.

One of my favorite things…
Vitamins. I’m positive that my current good health and ability to run 20 miles a week is thanks to the vitamins I take, plus my other healthy habits.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
the Philly Social Media Mom party, Longwood Gardens Star Blogger Event, Kindergarten conference, trip to NJ to drop off donations, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and DMV for Learner’s Permit for 16 year old.

Have a great week! I hear you about taking a break before putting up the Christmas decorations. We just got rid of our last pumpkin! Looking forward to reading more of your posts.
