Outside my window…
A very cold 15 degrees and dark. I can’t see the full moon from my window.

I am thinking…
How quickly February is coming, and how I’m a little closer to feeling on top of stuff.

I am thankful for…
my treadmill. Even though the reset button is not working, the treadmill itself still works. I stayed inside yesterday and ran for 40 minutes. Otherwise, I would have been out slipping and sliding on the poorly plowed roads.

I am pondering…

People tend to think happiness is a stroke of luck, something that will descend like fine weather if you’re fortunate. But happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You have to fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings.

And once you achieve a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it, you must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it…It’s easy enough to pray when you’re in distress but continuing to pray even when your crisis has passed is like a sealing process, helping your soul hold tight to its good attainments.”
- Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love

I never got into the Eat Pray Love craze. Never read the book; never saw the movie. When I ran across this quote on Facebook last week, it spoke to me. I’ll be printing it and hanging it where I can see it every day. Happiness IS a choice.

Living a green/frugal lifestyle…
When I took my car in last week to get a part fixed that was under warranty, the dealership told me my timing belt needed replacing and quoted me a price of $1,200. I started calling around and found out that the dealership inflated the price which I wasn’t surprised to hear. I’m on the hunt to find a local mechanic to do the job.

From the kitchen…
I have a busy week ahead thanks to Catholic schools week. I’m going to keep my kitchen tasks simple though I’m going to try one or two easy recipes for weeknight dinners.

I am creating…
plans for February – Valentine’s Day, decluttering, Girl Scouts, Lent, and blogging.
I am going…

I am reading…
books on the Kindle.

Living A Healthy Lifestyle…
With the recent Arctic cold snap and a recurring minor sinus infection, I’ve been struggling a bit with getting my runs in. I finally broke down yesterday and used my treadmill. Unfortunately, the kids may have damaged the button that provides time, mileage and pace though I am going to focus on being grateful for having the treadmill.

This week, we have a few warm days predicted for the middle of the week. I’m planning my runs accordingly to get myself back on track.
I am hoping…
for a good week and no sick kids.

I am hearing…

Around the house…
The kids are getting into the Valentine spirit and coming up with fun decorations of their own.

One of my favorite things…
purple pens. I LOVE writing with purple pens.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Venturing, Catholic Schools Week, and lunch duty.

A picture for thought…

Hanging out at the Honda dealership last week while my car was being looked at.
