The very last part of the Annual Review process is writing a statement summarizing the year. Writing out your vision of where you’ll be on December 31, 2012 sets up your intention for the year and gives you a definitive statement to review on a regular basis.
I’ll admit this is the first time I’ve written a one-paragraph statement about where I’ll be in 366 days. It’s a bit scary. And thrilling. Which is why I’ll keep this part of the Review private for now.
However, to help you create your own personal statement about your year, here’s a few notes I wrote down as I worked on my Annual Review:
Nourish and Create – these are my 2 words for the year. I know that I need time to create in my life, whether it’s writing, take pictures, or crafting. I also want to create a warm and welcoming home for my family and friends where people have a place to rest, good food to eat, and a comfortable, creative environment to be themselves.
Hand in hand with creativity goes nourishment. If I don’t take the time to nourish myself physically, mentally, and spiritually, I have nothing to offer my family to encourage them in their living.
Good Nutrition and Frugality – I wrote these words before coming up with my 2 words for the year. Nourishing the body is such an important job in life. The life of the mind is handicapped, even deadened by a lack of proper nutrients.
Writing/Blogging – Writing is such an essential part of my life. I write to understand. I write to record. I write to share what I’ve learned. I write to support others in what they do. Blogging is my vehicle.
Anything successful takes a lot of work and discipline. – Over and over again, the people in my life who are successful are the ones who just do the work. They show up every day. They don’t make excuses. They take responsibility for their stuff. They know there are bad days and good days, and lessons to be learned from both. They act. They think. They try. They do.
