I’m Barb, mom of 5 kids and writer here at Frugal Local Kitchen and my other blog, A Life in Balance.
First off, while I love food – growing it, cooking it, and eating it – I am less of a foodie and more of a practical cook. The fact is I need to provide 3 wholesome squares daily plus snacks for a family of 7 while sticking as much as I can to a budget. I’ve spent some time chronicling my journey from couponing and using some processed foods to a 80% whole foods diet at A Life in Balance.
Second – I am a suburban mom juggling sports schedules, school volunteering, blogging, and above all, being a mom. My goal is to create a place that supports me and all of you in our efforts and journey to feed our families. There is no one best way. We all do the best with the time, budget, and space that we have. It’s all about choices and having the freedom to re-assess our choices when they aren’t working for us and our families anymore.
I look forward to hearing more about you. If you want to send a recipe to be featured here or write a guest post about your family or even simply a tip for making cooking easier, email me. I also have a local foods price food for the Delaware Valley. Think of it as your resource, too, and feel free to send me your price lists. I’d like to cover the area of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware eventually.
