50 ways to leave your debt behind: what i read

by babhoyersh on July 1, 2011

This post is part of a series based on Laine’s Home Economics: 50 Ways We Paid Off Our House on One Income. Previous posts in the series are listed at the end of this post.

In her letter, Home Economics: Fifty Ways We Paid off Our Home, Laine mentions reading Christian finance books, along with Miserly Moms, and her Sunday newspaper. This week, I’m going with a list of my favorite resources which will also become a permanent page on my blog:

– my first book on frugality and always my favorite. I try to reread this one every year.

– a good read, though I prefer the Tightwad Gazette

The Simple Dollar – great online personal finance site written by a dad

Get Rich Slowly – another great online personal finance site written by a husband who dug himself out of a lot of debt

– a combination of a cookbook and guide to saving money in the kitchen

Like Merchant Ships – a fabulous site by a mom of 3 or 4 who has been taking a break from writing for over a year. Many of us wish she would come back!

Money Saving Mom – I love reading Crystal’s perspective on money and personal finance, and the guest posts can be equally helpful. I do skip over the deals.

Life as Mom – not necessarily a frugal site, though Jessica does have a frugal approach to life as a mom of 6

What are your favorite inspirational frugal books or websites? Please share in the comments, and I’ll add them to my resource page.
