The 19 month old can be such a wonderful person to be around. The excitement, the growing verbalness, the hugs, the connections, the figuring out solutions to problems. And, then he can be so frustrating with his quest to get into every.single.thing. None of us can leave anything in his reach. And this particular toddler is determined to get into everything.
This week he figured out that if he put the green stool from my desk in front of the mixer and microwave, he could play with both.
After he turned the microwave on by himself, I disabled it with a rag draped over the door to prevent the door from being shut. No, I don’t have the time to keep unplugging and replugging the microwave and resetting the clock. That’s enough to drive a mother of five crazy. Oh, he did hit enough buttons to cause the microwave to lock its control panel.
Then, I decided to sacrifice personal comfort at my desk and put the stool in the closet. I’m sure I can come up with money for visits to the chiropractor when he’s in Kindergarten.
