I haven’t talked about it much but for the past year or so an epic struggle has been waging in the Soukup household. It is Mommy versus Kids in the War of the Tidy Room, and while there are still small battles being fought now and then, I can finally say with confidence that I am winning.

One of my first green-our-house-for-baby projects was to rid our house of household chemicals. Not only are they dangerous to have sitting around where baby might find a way into them, but they also are harmful just by being used to “clean” the home environment.
As a full time homeschooling mother of two wonderful children (in different grades) who has her own business run out of her home, a handful of animals, and who has an OCD for cleaning, I often find that doing chores can get pushed to the bottom of the list of things to do and it can really frustrate me.
There are plenty of ways to clean your home with baking soda and for the amount of money that a box costs it can really cut down on your monthly budget for cleaning supplies. Baking soda is a very mild abrasive and works very will in the kitchen, bathroom and throughout the house.
I remembered from my mustard stain experiment how well super washing soda had worked and decided to start soaking my son’s jeans in a basin of water with about 3/4 of a cup of super washing soda mixed in.

I am going to show you an easy (and safe way) to freshen any room and your carpet. A cool bonus- this will kill fleas! We don’t have fleas (that I am aware of) but we do have a dog so this is a great precaution.
